Watford 4
Finding myself with an hour to kill before I was due to take my seat at the Palace Theatre last Wednesday, I wandered the mean streets of Watford and fired off a few shots. The sun was a demon, as Bobby Goldsboro once commented, so all was set fair - quite literally. With apologies to any Watfordians reading this but there ain't a deal to the town and, with the clock ticking, I think this quick quartet summed up WD17.
I haven't been to the Palace Theatre but saw Chris Norman at the Watford Coliseum a few years ago. Top show. The audience was me and my mate, Mike Chapman of Chinn & Chapman fame and lots of women of a certain age, many of them from Eastern Europe.
ReplyDeleteHang on a minute, hang on! You can't just casually drop a line like 'My mate Mike Chapman of Chinn & Chapman fame' and then walk away! I need the who, why, what, where & when. Please!
DeleteGreat photos, I think you've definitely caught its best side! I worked just a few miles away from the place for a few years and had to stay for a work do once at the Watford Hilton - aka a certain 'Linton Travel Tavern'...
ReplyDeleteAlso wondering about the play, John - please do tell!
Just seen your post-script on the original piece (and glad to know no legal battles will be taking place)
DeleteFor your next visit I recommend the Premier Inn Watford Croxley Green. Excellent views of a lorry park and Big Yellow Self Storage units.
DeleteC - Thank you. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting the hanging gardens of Babylon or herds of wildebeest, but it is yer ultimate identikit English town.
DeleteE - If only I'd known.
Great shots and you got blue skies I see.
ReplyDeleteJust read your postscript too. Glad you enjoyed the play - if it comes our way I think I'll roll up.
Thank you, Alyson.
DeleteI did. You should.
