I don't know about a match made in heaven, but there seems to be a certain symbiosis whenever a can of spray paint meets a brutalist building. In July of this year my friend Steve and I went to see Generation Sex at the newly refurbished Wulfrun Hall. Between our digs and the venue is an absolute behemoth of Brutalism - Wolverhampton Station Car Park; so much so it's something of a Modernist icon. However, at some point between when the above photo was taken (and now residing in my office - thank you, James - a most splendid birthday present), and the snap I took in the Summer, this happened; so much to unpack. Maybe another time.
Scum, subhuman scum...
ReplyDeletePerfectly captured picture. I love the old British Railways logo
ReplyDeleteAn easy target of course as the CCTV was clearly pointing the other way. Great picture and what Adam said about the logo. Trevor Jackson posted the old WH Smith logo on Twitter the other day, another design classic.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a brilliantly varied and consistently entertaining blog in 2023, John. Wishing you and your family all the best for 2024!
Happy New Year, John. Hopefully I made the deadline.
ReplyDeleteAlan Partridge-isms aside, thanks for all the posts and inspiration this year and here's wishing you a very happy 2024.
ReplyDeleteC - Peak Partridge!
ReplyDeleteK - Even in these strange, almost dystopian, times the British rail logo always feels very comforting. And thank you - you too.
R - Of course!
C - I should be thanking you!
