I lost touch with Blancmage (the band) sometime in the 80s (I lost touch with blancmange, the party food, a good ten years earlier).
And then recently (this year) I found them again. What's the Time from their Unfurnished Rooms album is on constant rotation here at Medd Towers. Not sure blancmange will ever make a comeback though - my head was turned by Angel Delight (butterscotch flavour) in the late 70s and I've never looked back since.
Blancmange - What's the Time (2017)
Butterscotch is indeed the best.
ReplyDeleteMakes you wonder why they even bother with the other flavours.
DeleteOn the basis of this I must listen to some more Blancmange, they're sounding better and more edgy to my ears now.
ReplyDeleteHated blancmange the foodstuff but loved butterscotch (of course) Angel Delight. I can only imagine the taste now; I've finally gone and got the dreaded Covid and sweet things taste foul!
Yikes! I hope your tase buds return soon.
DeleteI'm a custard man myself - even as a youngster I never developed a taste for either blancmange or angel delight, in spite of my Nan's best efforts. I did, however, thoroughly enjoy 'What's the Time'. Very good indeed, with a nice nod to the 'Honky Tonk Women' riff running through it.
ReplyDeleteCustard is still very much up there for me as well; homemade or tinned.
DeleteGlad yuu liked 'What's the Time'. You hear the Stones, I hear a regurgitated T. Rex riff. (Probably amounts to the same thing.)
