Steppin' Out

It's hard to think of your parents as young - having a life before you arrived. When everything stretched out before them; when everything was possible. I'm paraphrasing Ben Watt - please read his account of his parents' lives before he arrived. You'll be glad you did. In the meantime, here's a photo of my mum and dad (before I came along) when they were on the (b)rink...

  1. I don't read nearly enough, but I have read Romany and Tom (on your recommendation as it goes) - excellent it is too. That's a terrific snapshot of your folks. I love the formal informality of their clothes.

  2. Lovely photo. I must read Romany and Tom on your recommendation (thanks) and having thoroughly enjoyed two Tracey Thorn books in recent weeks.

    1. At the time no, but I @'d him when I tweeted about this post and he liked it.
      You'll like Romany and Tom.

  4. Yes, a great picture. Still working my way through the vast collection I have in my loft and just love how the moment is captured forever, just at that point in time - Wouldn't it be great to just step into the shot and follow them on their trip "to the rink". Find out how their day panned out.

    1. I'm currently playing around with a little colorization app I've just put on my phone; don't get me wrong, some b&w pix should stay in b&w, but every now and again...

I must ring dad and ask him if he can remember that day.
