Wedding of the Year 2018 |
A lot of firsts; my eyes have widened and my soul deepened, that much I do know. I also know that, pretty much like last year, my end of year round up is very simple, being both compact and bijou:

Best Mixtape: Hong Kong Ping Pong 10
Best Wedding: James & Janneke
Best Bar/Pub: either Jenkins [Sherwood] or the Organ Grinder [Loughborough] - I really can't make my mind up

Thank you so much @cjtudor and everyone at @nottsmechanics for a great evening. Caz, you had me enthralled for the full 2 hours x pic.twitter.com/eeYbjZ9c5N— John Medd (@JohnMeddUK) May 9, 2018
Glad your 2018 had more ups than downs. I've made a note of The Chalk Man by CJ Tudor. Would you say it's closer to horror or thriller? Apparently (according to Amazon) the writing is reminiscent of Stephen King
ReplyDeleteHi Chris - I'd say thriller, but with horror overtones. She was saying how made up she was when Stephen King started to get behind the book; he being her hero and all.
DeleteThanks for all your 2018 posts. All the best to you and yours for 2019.
ReplyDeleteThank you. And the same to you with furry boots on!
DeleteAll the best for Christmas and the New Year, John!
ReplyDeleteAnd you too Marie. Thank you for all your kind words and support this year.
DeleteLovely shout-out to our dear friend Alyson :-)
ReplyDeleteA very happy Christmas to you and family, John.
And to you and yours C.
DeleteAlyson's writing, and I'm sure she won't mind me saying this here, is so sure and strident these days. She's come of age!
This will be the first and last time in my life, I appear on the same "Best of" list as Paul McCartney. Very flattered of course but many more worthy blogs out there I'm sure. What I have done this year is write about some very personal issues affecting my family - I worry that I over-share but it turns out most of us go through a similar set of issues in the course of our lifetimes (empty nests, mental heath problems, elderly parents with health issues etc) so cathartic to write about such things. It's been a joy to have people drop by and share their stories.
ReplyDeleteAll the best for Christmas John. A couple of newly weds in your family this year - Shows how things move on every year, just as it should.
A - I'm sure Macca is saying exactly the same thing this Christmas!
DeleteHave a great Crimbo. See you next year...
Merry Christmas, John. In 2018, I learned I have a compadre when it comes to McCartney and Lowe.
ReplyDeleteYou too Brian. Hope you heard the hooves on the roof last night.
