Miss You

I'm no apologist for the Rolling Stones; they don't need me to fight their corner. That's what they pay their management for. And I'm sure the Stones' global fanbase is more than capable of fighting off any naysayers.
However, I did see recently that some nitwit had written: 'The Rolling Stones haven't released anything worthwhile since 1972.'
So Angie, Heartbreaker, It's Only Rock'n' Roll, Fool to Cry & Start Me Up are not worthy? Or Miss You?

I played my stripped down version of Jumpin' Jack Flash on Wednesday and it went down really well. That's prompted me to record it properly. As soon as it's done I'll put a link up.

  1. I read that bloody daft comment somewhere too. While the Glimmer Twin tank has been pretty much running on empty since the mid-1980's, there have still been a few worthwhile moments, not least of which is the great 2012 single 'Doom and Gloom'.
Looking forward to hearing the JM version of JJF.

  2. I agree Miss You is a terrific song and most of the others you mention are pretty good

    1. Exactly: terrific. Can something be very terrific...?

  3. I had a friend who always had to leave the room when Fool To Cry was played - Funnily enough it always made her cry.

    1. There's no shame in crying when a particular record comes on: anyone who knows me will testify that I often get a bit of grit in my eye when certain songs are played. When my guard is down I may give you a list of 'trigger' tunes...

  4. Sometime in 1980, I spent a couple of weeks in Paris and bought a red vinyl 12" version of "Miss You" - clocking in at around 8 and a half minutes - with "Faraway Eyes" on the flip side. One of the best records I ever owned.

    1. Mine was pink. But it was warped, so I took it back. And that was warped too, so I took that back. They didn't have anymore in the shop, so I was left Stones-less. I'm going to make it my mission to blag another copy. Pink or red. I'm easy.

  5. Yup, I'm chiming in with the same sentiment here; whoever said that was an idiot
