ReplyDeleteWhilst Slade posters, along with those of The Sweet, Glitter Band etc adorned my bedroom walls as a 8 year old I only once saw the Feel The Noise Quartet once live and that was many years later in the muddy fields of Donnington. And even that late in their careers, bloody they were too!

ReplyDeleteDidn't know Kershaw had a book out, I'll have to add that to the list. As for Slade, well I grew up in a household where Noddy, Lennon and Percy were considered the greatest vocalists ever.
As you can see from Vic and Bob's Slade In Residence, getting a 'Dave Hill' wasn't easy!
ReplyDeleteI never bought into the whole 'Slade are the missing link between The Beatles and Oasis' thang: they were just a bloody good rock and roll band. Check out Slade Alive if it's proof you're after.
I love that they "accidentally" reinvented themselves as a metal band after one good festival in 1980.
ReplyDeleteIs was in Music and Video Exchange in Berwick Street this week and they were playing a cracking version of the Nuggets classic "Shape of Things to Come" which was pretty ace.
