Art for art's sake

Try and get along to John Stezaker's new exhibition. It's like an artier version of Sleeveface.

  1. Ooh, ta for that. I'm due a 'culture day' in London this month, so will definitely get along there.

  2. I would love to get to this John but don't think that there is much chance, so thanks for posting it!

  3. It is too far away for me to see the exhibition but if you hadn't posted the mention I would not have enjoyed the the Guardian slide show link. Thanks

  4. Blimey - cheers for the tip John, I'm literally 10 minutes from Whitechapel today, so will punt along.

I had a pop to the This Is Tomorrow expo a couple of weeks back and caught the component parts of Richard Hamilton's 'What Is That....

  5. Back - and well worth the jaunt (belt). The postcard art is very proto-sleevface. Almost all the expo would make for great post-punk album art.

Personal fave: Enter, Exit Third Person series. But can't find anything on the net about it

  6. Glad you liked it Mondo. I read about it in The Times, but due to their paywall I ripped The Grauniad's blurb instead. Some of the Sleeveface stuff has had me in bits over the last couple of years. When I posted it on The Word blog someone fired back with a great Irish TV ad which made the whole thing come alive. Give me 5 mins and I'll try and find it.
